Consultancy Fees

Sorry for not posting for a long time. I have so many things to do that I found no time to post in this blog. Anyway...

Last month, the Sangguniang Bayan passed the Supplemental Budget for this calendar year. One of the items being debated is the proposal of Mayor Roscoe Democrito B. Plaza to allocate P300,000.00 for consultancy fees. The Mayor justified the proposal saying that we need top notch lawyers to act as legal consultants.

After deliberation, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan who are present during the session voted 5-3 to allocate an amount of P200,000.00 for consultancy fees. In short, the original proposal of P300,000.00 was being reduced to P200,000.00. The said consultancy fees is for the months of August to December 2010 only.

Those who voted against the consultancy fees and are in favor of scrapping the same are Hon. Carmona, Hon. Dompor, and myself.

  3. ang tanong is there a valid need for legal expertise and the intention of having this. will Nasipit earn advantages for this position?

  4. I believe it is always better if we have a legal consultant but the amount allocated is too much for 5-month period.

During the time of Mayor Doyon, I am the municipal legal consultant but the municipality spent only P24,000.00 a year or P2,000.00 per month for my services.

Now, our municipality is hiring not only one but four lawyers at P10,000.00 per month for each of them.
