Consultancy Fees

Sorry for not posting for a long time. I have so many things to do that I found no time to post in this blog. Anyway...

Last month, the Sangguniang Bayan passed the Supplemental Budget for this calendar year. One of the items being debated is the proposal of Mayor Roscoe Democrito B. Plaza to allocate P300,000.00 for consultancy fees. The Mayor justified the proposal saying that we need top notch lawyers to act as legal consultants.

After deliberation, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan who are present during the session voted 5-3 to allocate an amount of P200,000.00 for consultancy fees. In short, the original proposal of P300,000.00 was being reduced to P200,000.00. The said consultancy fees is for the months of August to December 2010 only.

Those who voted against the consultancy fees and are in favor of scrapping the same are Hon. Carmona, Hon. Dompor, and myself.

Inaugural Session

The first regular session of the 15th Sangguniang Bayan of Nasipit was held this morning at 9:00 o'clock. We updated and adopted the new internal rules of procedure of the body. We then elected the Chairmen of the standing committees before proceeding to the barangay assignment of each member.

The chairmanship of the standing committees are as follows:

We also passed the Resolution authorizing the change of signatories on all the bank accounts of the municipality considering that we have a new Mayor and Vice Mayor.

The regular session of the Sangguniang Bayan will be every Thursday at 9:00 o'clock in the morning.

The inaugural session was adjourned at about 11:30 in the morning.

Oath-Taking

At about 10:00 o;oclock this morning. the inauguration of the newly-elected officials of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte was held at the Municipal Hall ground. It was opened by a mass and, right after, the newly-elected officials took their oath one by one. The event was attended by a considerable number of persons, including the families, friends and supporters of the new officials.

The inaugural session of the SB will be tomorrow at 9:00 o'clock in the morning. It was also announced that a press conference of the Mayor will also be held tomorrow morning.

Preparation

Today, the newly-elected officials, including Mayor-elect Roscoe Plaza, were brief by the municipal officer of the DILG. The mother of the Mayor-elect, Hon. Daisy Plaza, also attended. Other SB members who attended, aside from me, are Hon. Antidio Amora, Hon. Rudy Cuhit, Hon. Ben Selim and Hon. Bebie Beniga.

The oath-taking ceremony of all officials will be on June 30, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. at the Municipal Hall ground. The inaugural session of the Sangguniang Bayan is on July 1, 2010 at 9:00 in the morning. The agenda include the review of the internal house rules, the election of the chairmen and members of the different committees, the barangay assignment of each SB member, and the resolution on change of signatories in the bank account.
